Put Meditation as Priority Number One | Ishwar Puri (Part 4 of 5)

Video Description: Welcome friends to this workshop. It is here to primarily learn the best methods of meditation to achieve our goal of finding and going to our true home which lies within us. I would like to know how many in this audiences have been initiated for Surat Shabd Yoga 🙂 Tomorrow evening at 4’O Clock I would like to have a meditation session for 30minute by those who have been initiated. Those who are not, don’t need to be present but when they are then they can join us. Yesterday, we did meditation…after practising 2 little exercises about the orange juice experiment where we can put our attention where we like. We can put our attention on the higher chakras…to have progressive experience it is good to go from Stage 1 to 2 to 3. But if you have already done journey before, it becomes easy to skip stages. We have created this physical world to make it real around us. What is real? Nothing is real…if reality means that which changes that is a good definition…something that never changes…is the experiencer of all this…the self…the true self. Reality is being created by us. True reality is finding our true self. Does it have some form which we can grab quickly and find out? Yes…when we say…let us do meditation on the sound…sound comes from the true self. This meditation in which we can capture the sound within us…a sound resounds from the self…that is the sound which can take us back.

Our consciousness uses the process of illusion to create reality.

7min- If want to practise surat shabd yoga, we look from that sound that comes directly from our own self. That is the key to discover true sound. There was a Japanese seeker who wanted to find where there is no sound…he built a sound-proof chamber…air supply for oxygen was put via filter…completely soundproof and I entered that. Sound from self is from right at the centre where you are. Where you are never changes…the entire experience of different worlds…experience is going around you and you are always still in here and now ❤ You only realise when you discover your true self. Stillness of self is already there…self never moves…its always the same but all experiences around it alters and change. We of course can hear other sounds…any sound inside is good to hear to withdraw your attention inside. But that doesn’t mean it is the sound of the self. If we start listening to sound of breathing…in some types of meditation like pranayama they meditate on breath itself. People doing that think its just a breathing exercise, they get used, they take them a long time to realise true attention should be focused on somewhere else. I have so many friends of mine who have done different kinds of yoga. There are 3 miss givings- sound yoga of attention on sound does not require doing anything but withdraw your attention to your own self where ultimate vibration is coming from.

15min- Dream experience shuts off experience of the wakeful state but does not stop the true self! There is never a break in our true self. When we realise that, we find the sound we are talking about is our own self..its manifestation of our own self. If you could ride on the sound…catch it as a sound, you will be able to ride all the way back home. It may sound like other sounds…to star with it does…the sound that it starts…can be sound like bells…big bells…like churches, in temple and elsewhere. We put bells there for the same purpose so we could go and hear bells ringing inside. It has a pull in it to pull to our real self. Therefore, the other sounds, I call them practise sounds (like train, whistling sound, truck passing, water falls). When they come, they can come from either side (left or right). Real sound comes from within but while that is happening there are sounds being created near the eyes, they are physiological sounds but can be heard internally. That is why we use them for practise only. We are now changing the very direction of flow of our attention. Withdrawal of attention means pulling your attention to where you are. These PLMs found a easy device..instead of focusing attention, just imagine you are there (which you already are). If you imagine body is not you…imagine you are there…forget how big you are…this body you are sitting behind the eyes and hear the sound…try to catch the sound. The bells become louder with bigger peel. Donggggg… 🙂 As you listen to it attentively…ultimately it becomes one peel.

22min- Its all part of apparatus inside provided in the next body. When you pull attention there nothing but to hear the sound and HOLD on to feeling you are inside. Repetition is not required when you hear the sound…let’s try now…do repetition and then drop repetition and catch the sound. Close your eyes…imagine this body is a house with several floors and sitting down on the 6thf floor behind the eyes. You can imagine body like house you are sitting on top of the your body and ears are around you and eyes are in front of you…hair on top of you (or not for baldies like me LOL), if any sound comes listen attentive but don’t move towards but if it comes from top listen from the centre. How many of you were success in hearing a sound. Essential part of meditation is missing…we meditated without love and devotion…without it you get no spirituality (but do get other experiences). People doing it for a long time with no result. There is a colleague of mine in Punjab and he has a foundary and he is a very old disciple of GM…just passed away now. We got initiated at around the same time. Good at holding discourses at his home. Big crowds to his home and many masters came to his home including GM. He is a special friend of mine. I was taking a friend of mine from the USA to hear a discourse. This friend of mine we had lunch after satsangh…I have a question to ask you (he said)…you and I both got intiated by same master more than 40-50 years ago…taught same things how come you have something but I got nothing in all my meditation..I do 2.5hr meditation daily…he has kept his vows….yet I didn’t get any result can you tell me why? I said you knew all these masters…why don’t you ask them? Why didn’t you ask GM? He said I did ask them…he said he smiled and said do your meditation with love and devotion…others same the same…now why are you asking me the same question…because I saw you answering other people’s questions…I give answer in secret way…I immediately check with my master…whatever answer I get I give it…I use this technique for a long…so go and ask this question…I said about 6 months to get an answer…I said because I was returning to the USA…after 6 months I went back to him…its same answer…do your meditation with love and devotion…you said you are doing meditation but not mention love and devotion. That’ why meditation devoid of love and devotion is mechanical exercise. So you can get other thing but not the truth…I said now try…he said how do we put love and devotion? I said…have you read swami Ji’s teachings…he says even if you pretend that will be recognised you suddenly will develop…express our love in same pretentious way…try the same method…at least talk about it. I went back to the USA, went to India and visited him…I made more progress in these 6 months than in 40 years! I want you have to little sampling of this when you meditate. Close your eyes and go back to meditation chamber…sit there in the centre and express your love and devotion in anyway you can. Master KNOWS what you are doing. It changes whole experience of meditation by love and devotion. The shabd, the sound becomes love and devotion above the mind. We say God is Love…we are talking of consciousness . He has created world of duality to experience love. Whole basis of devolution of consciousness is arises from power and experience of love. We have created so many obligations outside…according to me…we have so many things to do…but priority was meditation 1st and everything afterwards. Don’t skip on this…our priority are low. Put meditation as priority No. 1 and all things you put under-neath will be better done and severed. It effects everything! Meditation gives clarity of thinking…it is not a waste of time. We continue this meditation tomorrow ❤
